Abstract

The performance of AC-WC mixtures is greatly influenced by the characteristics of the aggregates used, so the selection of quarries that produce aggregates is important in road planning. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of aggregates from two different quarries, namely Sanggau Quarry and Peniraman Quarry, and to determine and compare the performance of AC-WC mixtures using different aggregate characteristics. The study was conducted in several stages. The first stage involved testing the aggregate characteristics and asphalt properties. The second stage involved preparing test specimens using the Marshall test. The third stage involved analyzing the results of the Marshall test in accordance with the 2018 Revised Edition of the Indonesian Road Construction Specifications, determining the Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC), and drawing conclusions from the test results. The results of the study indicate that the Peniraman Quarry aggregate has better aggregate characteristics compared to the Sanggau Quarry aggregate in terms of strength, abrasion resistance, and low absorption capacity. This affects the improvement in stability, asphalt content usage efficiency, and optimal density value in the AC-WC mixture. The conclusion of the study indicates that the aggregate characteristics of the two quarries have significant differences that affect the performance of the AC-WC mixture. It is hoped that this can serve as a reference in selecting optimal aggregate materials to support the development of high-quality and sustainable road infrastructure.
