Peer Review Process

Anonymous Peer Review Workflow

Jurnal Serambi Engineering (JSE) applies a rigorous Anonymous Peer Review procedure to ensure that published scientific articles satisfy high standards of originality, methodological rigor, and technical contribution. Reviewer identities remain anonymous to authors throughout the evaluation process.

1. Submission and Initial Administrative Screening
The editorial secretariat reviews submitted manuscripts for completeness, compliance with the official JSE Word template, adherence to author guidelines, and mandatory declaration statements.
2. Desk Review & Plagiarism Screening
The Editor-in-Chief and Section Editors evaluate thematic relevance to JSE's focus and scope. All manuscripts are screened via Turnitin (must have similarity index < 20%). Submissions that are out of scope or plagiarized are rejected without external review.
3. Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts passing desk review are assigned to at least two independent reviewers (Mitra Bestari) with proven expertise in the specific engineering domain.
4. Anonymous Peer Review Evaluation
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on scientific novelty, experimental design, mathematical or empirical soundness, clarity of data presentation, and relevance of literature citations. Reviewers provide objective critiques and concrete suggestions.
5. Reviewer Recommendation
Reviewers recommend one of four outcomes: (a) Accept Submission, (b) Revisions Required (Minor), (c) Resubmit for Review (Major), or (d) Decline Submission.
6. First Editorial Decision
The responsible Section Editor synthesizes the peer reports and conveys the formal decision letter and detailed reviewer remarks to the corresponding author.
7. Author Revision & Response Matrix
Authors are given a specified period (typically 2-4 weeks) to revise their manuscript. Authors must upload a revised manuscript alongside a point-by-point Response Matrix addressing every reviewer query.
8. Re-Evaluation (Round 2)
In cases of major revision, the revised manuscript is returned to original reviewers to verify whether previous critiques were satisfactorily resolved.
9. Final Editorial Decision & Acceptance
The final publication decision rests exclusively with the Editor-in-Chief. Accepted manuscripts proceed to professional copyediting, XML/PDF typesetting, DOI assignment, and online publishing.
