Analisis Perubahan Tutupan Lahan di Desa Indra Sari, Kalimantan Selatan menggunakan Metode Klasifikasi Random Forest pada Platform Google Earth Engine

Abstract

Land cover change from vegetation and open land to built-up land has been increasing in line with the growing demand for land for development purposes. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of land cover change in Indra Sari Village, Banjar Regency, during the period 2019–2024. The data used are Sentinel-2A images, which are processed and classified using the Random Forest algorithm through the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. Three land cover classes are defined: vegetation, open land, and built-up land. The validation process is conducted using a confusion matrix along with the calculation of Overall Accuracy and Kappa Coefficient values. The classification results show fluctuations in the area of vegetation, increasing from 866,950 m² in 2019 to 940,290 m² in 2024, and a significant increase in built-up area from 724,352 m² to 1,142,721 m² during the same period. Uncommon land cover changes are also observed, such as settlements transforming into open land, which may result from changes in building function, demolition, or classification errors that require further validation.
