Abstract

Pavement is a crucial element in the transportation system that supports human mobility and the distribution of goods. Pavement is generally divided into wo main type: flexible pavement and rigid pavement. Proper pavement design significantly affects the service life of the road as well as the efficiency of required maintenance. This study aims to design the thickness of flexible pavement on the Rasau Jaya–Sungai Bulan road section in Kubu Raya Regency, taking into account traffic load and subgrade conditions. The design method used for this road segment is the MDP 2024 method. Based on the results, a CESAL value of 79,652.879 was obtained and used as the basis for pavement thickness design. The recommended pavement layer composition includes a 30 mm HRS-WC layer, a 35 mm HRS-BASE layer, a 250 mm Class A aggregate base, and a 200 mm Class B LFA or natural gravel or stabilized layer with a CBR greater than 10% (LPC). The study concludes that the MDP 2024 method is effective and suitable for designing the pavement thickness on the Rasau Jaya–Sungai Bulan road section.
