Abstract

Bekasi Regency has a population of over 3.2 million people, with a population density of 2,541 people/km² and an annual growth rate of 1.44%. The piped Water Supply System (SPAM) service coverage in the region has only reached 29.08%, slightly below the 30% target set in the 2020–2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Perumda Tirta Bhagasasi, the regional water utility, is striving to expand its service network, one of which is through the development of a distribution pipeline in the Grand Residence City housing area in collaboration with developer PT. Y. Planning was carried out for 2,514 housing units using hydraulic simulation software EPANET 2.2. The simulation results show that all nodes meet the minimum pressure requirement in accordance with Ministry of Public Works Regulation No. 27 of 2016; however, only about 4% of the links meet the ideal flow velocity due to the use of oversized pipe diameters. The headloss values remain within acceptable limits. Adjusting the pipe diameter is the primary solution to improve system efficiency. Furthermore, the region's low water consumption compared to the standard is attributed to limited and polluted raw water sources, along with a high leakage rate of 38%. Therefore, optimizing the SPAM pipeline network design is crucial to sustainably meet the clean water needs in Bekasi Regency.
