Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis silika gel dari campuran abu sekam padi dan ampas tebu menggunakan metode sol gel serta mengkaji kinerjanya sebagai adsorben methylene blue. Variabel yang digunakan adalah massa adsorben (0,1; 0,2; dan 0,3 g) dan waktu adsorpsi (30, 45, 60, 75, dan 90 menit) Produk penelitian berupa silika gel dikarakterisasi menggunakan FTIR dan XRD. Hasil FTIR menunjukkan terbentuknya gugus silanol (Si–OH) dan siloksan (Si–O–Si), sedangkan hasil XRD menunjukkan silika memiliki struktur amorf dengan puncak utama pada 2θ = 20-30°. Kondisi optimum adsorpsi diperoleh pada massa adsorben 0,3 g dan waktu kontak 90 menit dengan persentase adsorpsi mencapai 100%. Analisis kinetika menunjukkan bahwa proses adsorpsi mengikuti model pseudo second order dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,9841. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa silika gel dari abu sekam padi dan ampas tebu berpotensi sebagai adsorben yang efektif untuk menghilangkan methylene blue dari larutan.
