Evaluasi Kinerja Mesin Giling Menggunakan Metode OEE dalam Upaya Pengurangan Six Big Losses di PT PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo

Abstract

The sugar industry in Indonesia faces challenges in meeting domestic demand due to low production efficiency. The sugarcane milling stage, as the initial process, plays a critical role in determining overall production effectiveness. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the milling machine at PT. PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and to analyze the contribution of the Six Big Losses. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied through observations, interviews, and documentation during the production period from May to October 2024. The results indicate an average Availability of 99%, Performance of 100%, and Quality of 97%, resulting in a total OEE of 96%. This value exceeds the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) minimum standard of 85%. The Six Big Losses analysis revealed that yield losses contributed the highest percentage of total losses (54%), followed by equipment failure (23%) and setup and adjustment losses (23%). Recommendations for improvement include the implementation of consistent preventive maintenance and the optimization of setup procedures to minimize losses. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the sugar industry in enhancing the operational effectiveness of milling machines.
