This study aims to evaluate the effect of using ablution wastewater as a substitute for clean water on the compressive strength and microstructure of concrete. The analysis methods used include compressive strength testing, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The use of ablution water is considered an effort to conserve clean water resources while utilizing light wastewater from religious activities. Three concrete variations were tested: normal concrete, concrete mixed with 50% ablution water, and concrete mixed with 100% ablution water. The results showed an increase in compressive strength at 28 days of age, with values of 12.89 MPa, 13.78 MPa, and 14.25 MPa, respectively. XRD analysis indicated a reduction in calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) compounds and an increase in C–S–H and carbonate (CO₃²⁻) formations, suggesting a more optimal hydration process. FTIR results supported this, showing a decrease in hydroxyl (OH) groups and an increase in the absorption bands of Si–O and CO₃²⁻ groups. Overall, the use of ablution wastewater improves both the mechanical properties and microstructure of concrete. This innovation not only supports sustainability in civil engineering but also aligns with the spiritual values of Indonesia's Muslim community.
