Pembuatan Bioflokulan Pati Biji Asam Jawa dan Aplikasinya pada Penurunan Kadar COD serta BOD Limbah Cair Industri Tahu

Pengembangan flokulan berbasis bahan alami diperlukan sebagai alternatif flokulan sintetis yang berpotensi mencemari lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat bioflokulan dari pati biji asam jawa serta mengkaji pengaruh konsentrasi NaOH dan waktu perendaman terhadap kadar pati yang dihasilkan. Bioflokulan kemudian diaplikasikan pada limbah cair industri tahu untuk mengevaluasi efektivitasnya dalam menurunkan parameter pencemar. Metode penelitian meliputi isolasi pati biji asam jawa dan proses flokulasi dalam pengolahan limbah. Isolasi pati dilakukan melalui tahap deproteinasi menggunakan larutan NaOH dengan variasi konsentrasi 0,04; 0,1; 0,16; 0,22; dan 0,28% serta variasi waktu perendaman 1; 1,5; 2; 2,5; dan 3 jam, dilanjutkan dengan tahap demineralisasi menggunakan larutan HCl 0,04% selama 1 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kondisi optimum diperoleh pada konsentrasi NaOH 0,04% dan waktu perendaman 3 jam dengan kadar pati tertinggi sebesar 21,3135%. Aplikasi bioflokulan mampu menurunkan parameter pencemar limbah cair industri tahu, yaitu pH sebesar 20,86%, BOD 6,97%, COD 57,77%, dan TSS 11,05%. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi NaOH cenderung menurunkan kadar pati, sedangkan peningkatan waktu perendaman cenderung meningkatkan kadar pati yang diperoleh.
